Packaging for Everyday
Designers build and shape items we use in our environment. Packaging needs to protect and display its product for the consumer. We used designed packaging everyday. Packaging design is about creating the boxes, bags, or containers that keep products safe, look exciting to shoppers, and tell them what’s inside.

Collective Memory
Artists use photography to explore, symbolize and communicate complex emotions. Emotions can be tied to significant places even if they are ordinary places we visit regularly. We are going to look at Refik Anadol’s work Machine Hallucinations NYC. With the help of complex AI configuration, he creates a collective memory of one city. We will then create a collective memory of our facility.

Graphic Design I Curriculm
We are going to dive into the “whys” of branding and uncover what makes them impactful. Together we’ll examine a variety of popular and niche brands. Then you’ll grow your skills by creating a brand identity for a new zoo, museum or sports arena.

Painting Sound
High school students often connect deeply with music, using it as inspiration while they create art. In this lesson, students will select an instrumental song and translate its sounds into a non-objective painting. Through this process, they will explore how music can be visually expressed and how artists use abstraction to symbolize and communicate complex emotions.

Palette Knife Exploration
We will experiment with painting only with a palette knife. This project is a great follow-up to the completion of a large summative project. It is a great way to help students loosen up and experiment while learning a new technique. Artists are often fascinated by the ordinary, day-to-day sights they encounter and create art about “quotidian” objects and images. After trying a few techniques, we will use a palette knife to paint a still life.

AP Art History 236 to 239
